Transitions is a site
where people can come to find information about
making the transition to community college. We encourage everyone to know how
to appropriately safeguard his or her privacy when
exploring the Internet. To this end we are fully
committed to supporting the Children's Online Privacy
Protection Act of 1998. Our information collection
practices are described below. We urge visitors to check
with their parent or guardian before entering any
information on any website and we urge parents and
guardians to discuss with their children restrictions
regarding the online release of personal information to
anyone they don't know.
What Information Do We Collect?
Our policy is to create website content that requires
minimal collection of information from our visitors,
specifically no personal information when navigating the
basic site. However, Transitions occasionally
may request limited personal information, as explained
below, in order to complete a request or task, or to
conduct a sweepstakes or contest. We do not make
disclosure of more information than is reasonably
necessary as a condition for participation.
Admissions Counselors and Advisors Survey/Order Materials
Those admissions counselors and advisors who are eligible can request our free
Transitions materials via our online order
form. All the information collected by Transitions is used for the purpose of shipping the free
materials to their college. The information collected may
be used to contact admissions counselors and advisors about events associated with
Transitions for which they submitted their
personal information. All admissions counselors and
advisors may "opt-out" of this
notification practice.
Other E-mail Requests
From time to time Transitions conducts
contests, sweepstakes, and other promotions that may be
of interest to friends and acquaintances of our
visitors. As a service to our visitors Transitions may
offer to send an e-mail that informs others about a
particular contest, sweepstakes, or promotion on behalf
of a visitor. Information gathered for this purpose is
only used for this purpose and deleted after the e-mail
is sent. Data are gathered about the number of requests
without linking the data to specific requests. If you no longer wish to receive
Transitions e-mail updates, please e-mail us at
removeemail@transitions101.com.
Use of Information
Transitions does not disclose to third
parties personally identifiable information that
visitors have provided without specific permission from
the visitors. We may disclose personally
identifiable information to third parties when required
by law or is pertinent to judicial or government
investigations or proceedings, or otherwise necessary to
protect our website or the safety of its users.
